Welcome to Whispy Hollow Farm, 'Time with Horses'! We offer a program with horses that does not involve riding. In addition, basic horseback riding lessons on a limited basis. Thank you to Clara Cahoon for her support, expertise and use of her much loved facility.
Our Service to You
Hi! I am Donna Falquero, owner of the Whispy Hollow Farm, 'Time with Horses', program. You may be wondering what you can do with horses that does not involve riding other than feed and groom them? There is an amazing amount of positive experiences you can have learning about and being with horses in our program. Even if you have horse knowledge or no knowledge, we will individualize sessions to meet your personal or business team unique needs. I draw upon years of diverse horse experience and professional work facilitating and coaching teams for improvement in the healthcare industry.
Sessions are structured using the concept of the 4Bs of Boundaries, Bonding, Bravery, Basic Skills (adapted with permission from Don Jessop, Mastery Horsemanship):
Boundaries
Learning to be a leader with horses for confidence building and for achieving safe distances.
Bonding
How to read a horses body language as a prey animal. What brings them pleasure or reward other than food to build a relationship? Bonding is a great opportunity for relaxation and a positive life experience.
Bravery
Having FUN with typically scary things to horses like tarps, umbrellas, and obstacles. Continues to build your leadership and confidence with horses.
Basic Skills
With the horse in motion at the walk, trot, and canter/lope how to do circles, changes of direction while in motion, side-pass, pivot on front & rear ends and send the horse through obstacles versus lead. All of the above with lines attached AND without lines attached!
Participants progress is measured using a tool with levels of skill in the categories of leadership, on-line/in-hand skills, no-lines skills, riding control (if riding is desired)
Riding
Riding sessions are only conducted as private 1:1 training. For beginner and novice riders sessions are conducted on-line for confidence, balance and skill building with the horse in motion before rein communication is introduced. Length of time spent on-line is rider dependent before progression to independent riding. Our focus is a solid foundation of basic skill and horse knowledge!
